Memories

Memories linger in our hearts and mind
Bittersweet memories of our first love
When the world was young
And so much better then.
Memories of our youth as we remember
the days we used to fish by the lake
As fishes were jumping up, frolicking in
the waters.
Memories of rain drenched bodies as we
shrieked and played along the driving
rain.
Memories of bygone years when joys were
aplenty and sorrows were nowhere to
be found.

Why is it so much wonderful when we think
of the past?
People were much warmer then and smiles
were the greetings of everybody.
Money was never scarce then and you can buy
so many things with a little cash on hand.
How wonderful were the melodies of yesteryears.
They lulled us to sleep in peaceful slumber as
we lived our lives as carefree as the birds
in the skies.
Ah memories, sweet memories of wonderful days
gone by.

Mel, well written poems but I found that you don't follow a rhyming scheme. You know, I tried to write poems so many times but then somehow the links get cut. Have you heard of a very very famous poet (among others) of our country India - Rabindranath Tagore? You should read his if you get it. Personally, which poets do you like?

Hi Sangeeta,
Thanks for your suggestion. That is well taken. I don't write poem with rhymes. I do free verses. They are just past times and are not so serious in nature. Yes, I have heard of the great Rabindranath Tagore. He was a well respected poet not only in your country but throughout the whole world as well. Thanks for your visit and comments. I really appreciate that. Have a nice day.
